Hey friends,
I am forever grateful for the friends and #virtualfamily I've made through livestreaming; and especially for the joy and sanity it has granted us access to during unprecedented times. I'm a huge believer in community and how we're stronger, happier, and healthier because of it. I'm constantly trying to find better ways to connect with people, and experience shared joy through the power of music.
I know it's important to stop and take note of the good things by reflecting on our accomplishments, and I often fail to take the time to write it down.
In hopes that I can train myself to do this more frequently, I wanted to check in here to share a few select wins that specifically highlight how the numbers have aligned in 2025.
In May, we crossed the 5 year milestone of livestreaming on @PDSMIX with an 8 hour stream that included tasty cake, a back to back DJ set with my friend Jane Dupree, a bespoke mashup power hour featuring a Carrot Colada cocktail mixed by a Nashville mashup legend, and a plethora of special guests; both live and virtual.
In August, and with a nudge from my community #TeamSupreme, I organized a series of events to celebrate 50 years of being alive and spinning records professionally for 25. Dubbed "PDS*CON", the 5 days & nights of live events and activities spanned some iconic locations across my hometown of Nashville, TN; culminating in an audacious and spectacular event that took months of planning.
A creative partnership with Black Box Realities granted me the ability to co-produce an unbelievable multi-stage mixed-reality festival streamed live across 6 Twitch channels, all sharing chat and recorded in 4k. The night featured a high energy keyboard driven hybrid mashup performance, live DJs spinning in immersive virtual worlds, and 2 story projections of international DJs streaming remotely into a room full of IRL attendees, many whom had travelled from across the country and at great expense to be there.
It was the perfect iteration of the "Decennial Dance Party" my birthday buddy Daniel and I host every 10 years, and it's gonna be hard to top in 2035.
As this is the first chance I've gotten to write about this since it happened, I can report that the videos from this event will be released. We still have some processing and editing to do, and I look forward to sharing all of those recordings with you very soon.
This October, @BasicallyGiles and I (in our 15th year together) have decided to attend the 10 year anniversary of TwitchCon in San Diego. We'll be livestreaming directly from the Convention on the @PDSLUX channel with pop-up DJ streams from me on the @PDSMIX channel. We'll be flying out there with my new DJ controller checked as baggage, so assuming it arrives unscathed, I'll be doing sets from our hotel room in between IRL streams. I'm excited to meet so many other streamers while I'm out there. Many whom I have consistently watched and forged relationships with via Twitch.
As you can see, the numbers line up (50, 25, 15, 10, 5) and I can't ignore how special that is. It's compelled me to work extra hard on creating and curating these streams, designing merch, planning events, and sharing my art. I'm eternally grateful for all the love and support, the help from all my talented friends, and the love the community has shared with me. I have no illusions that any of this happens without you.
